Over The Moon
Inspired by the traditional English nursery rhyme, "Over the Moon" combines diverse materials into a joyful, whimsical scene. The base is an old lidded tin box with a faded, warm aubergine finish—a unique New Hampshire antique store find. Heather embellished the tin with delicate, hand-painted stars in copper and silver. The celestial theme extends upward into an ethereal wool full moon, shimmering with reflective fibers and a single clear bead. This moon rises from a wooly, midnight-blue sky detailed with dark, faceted beads and hand-cut copper shooting stars suspended on fine copper wire. Soaring above it all, a needle-felted wool Holstein leaps through the air, bringing to life the beloved rhyme sung through the ages:
Hey diddle diddle,
The cat and the fiddle,
The cow jumped over the moon;
The little dog laughed
To see such sport,
And the dish ran away with the spoon.
The entire piece is 8 inches tall and the cow is 9 inches from nose to tail tip. The box is 3 × 3 inches. The lid of the box has been glued to remain open as in the photos. Signed of the back of the box. This is not a toy. Keep out of reach of young children and pets. Avoid display in direct sunlight.
