Leaping Bunny
Leaping Bunny
An eastern cotton rabbit leaps through the air suspended from below by a victorian cast iron base.
Heather found the attractive base, a victorian receipt spike or letter holder, at the Brimfield Antiques and Flea Market. (Brimfield, MA). Permanently suspended atop is a needle felted cottontail rabbit. The rabbit was built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The top coat is a custom blended wool fibers. These fibers were applied using a shingle technique where dozens of tiny tufts of wool were applied in a layered array and sculpted with felting needles, scissors, and razors to create natural looking fur. The eyes are wool and whiskers are horsehair. The rabbit is 5 inches long and 5.5 inches tall including the base.
This is not a toy. Keep out of reach of young children and pets. Avoid display in direct sunlight.
