A mouse, cupcake with rainbow sprinkles, birthday candle, and vintage sparkle combine to create an enchanting composition that evokes the joys of celebration and the magic of heart-felt wishes.
The life-size needle felted cupcake and mouse are built over a wire armature and have a solid wool core. A custom blend of alpaca, gotland, flax, dorset, and corriedale fibers combine to make the fur. Dozens of small tufts of the fiber were painstakingly applied in a layered array then sculpted with scissors and felting needles resulting in a natural fur or pelt. The tiny toes are wire wrapped with wool and secured with beeswax to create claws. A hint of reflective sparkle add life to the wool eyes. The whiskers are horsehair. The wool party hat is embellished with vintage tinsel and gold thread. The wool candle‘s reflective flame is a combination of vintage tinsel, iridescent fiber and copper wire. The solid wool chocolate cupcake with its mound of fluffy pink frosting is accented with embroidered rainbow sprinkles. The mouse and cupcake are permanently secured to a base of handmade felt and finished with an embroidered edge. Initialed on the underside. Measures 6.5 inches to the top of the flame.
