This needle felted Sebastopol goose stands proudly atop an antique wood base, showing off its curly feathers. These geese were introduced in England around 1860 and bred for their characteristic curly feathers for use in pillows and quilts.
This piece, including the antique carved wood vase base, measures 7 inches tall. The base is 3.5 × 3.5 inches. The good has a wire armature and a solid wool core. The eyes, beak, and webbed feet are wool. The curly feathers are art yarn hand sewn to the wool core. Initialed under the base.
