HEDGEHOGS:
Two European hedgehogs, one measure 8.5 inches long and 4 inches tall, the other 7.5 inches and 3.5 inches tall. Each are built over a wire armature and have a solid wool core. The feet are feature individual toes, toe pads, and hand carved and painted epoxy claw. The quills are a mohair fabric by the Steiff Schulte Co. of Germany. The fur is a custom blend of camel, corriedale, alpaca, and churro. The eyes are wool and whiskers are horsehair.
NORTH AMERICAN PORCUPINE:
The needle felted porcupine is built over a wire armature and has a solid wool core. The feet feature individual toes, toe pads, and hand-carved and painted epoxy claws. Each of the many quills were made and applied individually from a variety of fibers, primarily mohair. Other fibers to create finer quills and fur include horsehair, alpaca, corriedale, romney and silk. These fibers were applied in a layered array of hundreds of tiny tufts and sculpted with scissors and felting needles. The eyes are wool. The porcupine, from the nose to the end of the body is 11 inches, with an additional 5 inches for the tail. It measures 8 inches at its tallest point. In order to maintain the integrity of the quill, the piece should be handles from the feet and smooth underside.
These are not toys. Keep out of reach of young children and pets. Avoid display in direct sunlight.
