The piping plover (charadrius melodus) is a threatened shorebird found along the Atlantic coast in the U.S. and Canada and on the shores of the Great Lakes. It's sound, a soft peep-peep, has been written about by the great naturalist/writers, including Henry David Thoreau and Henry Beston.

This life-size needlefelted sculpture of an adult piping plover measures 7.0" from the tip of the beak to the end of the tail. It's 5.5 inches tall. Pairs beautifully with the nesting piping plover (sold separately).
