This needle felted chipmunk enjoys a felted blueberry while perched atop an old architectural spindle. The spindle, complete with it’s charming chipped paint, was found in an antiques/vintage store in Rowley, Massachusetts. The chipmunk is built over a wire armature and in permanently fixed to the spindle. The core is solid wool. The top coat is a custom blend of fibers including silk, alpaca, merino, Corriedale, and Romney. Small tufts of the top coat fibers were applied in a staggered array then sculpted with scissors and felting needles. This time consuming process results in a more natural looking fur and is most evident in the tail. The eyes are wool. Each toe and nail are wire wrapped with wool and secured with beeswax, as is the blueberry stem. The whiskers are horsehair. Together, the chipmunk and spindle are 10.5 inches tall.

This is not a toy. Keep out of reach of young children and pets. Avoid display in direct sunlight.
