This needle felted barn owl was made to fit snugly inside the 19th century clock case. The c.1860 retains its manufacturers label indicating it was “made and sold by Atkins Clock Co. Bristol. Conn.” The piece can be displayed with the door open or closed. The needle felted owl has a wire armature and a solid wool core. The top coat is a custom blend of wool fiber and silk. The eyes are wool. Note there are no feet as they do not show and so that the proportions and angles of the owl fit naturally in the case. Signed on the clock case base.
The clock case is 10.5 inches tall. The case base is 7.5 inches wide and 4 inches deep.
